Lois Schulman

Lois Ann Schulman (nee Zilligen) of Grafton passed away on Monday, March 8, 2021, at the age of 88 years due to complications from surgery.

Lois is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dale; children Christopher (Jean), Timothy (Linda), Andrew (Mary Rose) and Elizabeth (Bill) Prince; and cousins Jean Quinnan and Emily DeSantis. Lois is further survived by five grandchildren, Adam, Christy, Peter, Emma and Charles.  (Lois is even further survived by her three “grand-dogs” Bert, Lila and Patrick.)

Lois was born in Chicago, Ill., to August and Mary Zilligen. She lived as a child in New York City and Chicago while her father August was vice president of Sears, Roebuck & Co.

Lois was a graduate of Loyola University and the Art Institute of Chicago. She was a successful commercial artist before raising her four children.

Lois and Dale were married in Chicago in 1961.

Lois enjoyed 83 summers at her family cottage on Silver Lake near Wautoma, Wis., where she and Dale lived full time for 23 years after retirement. She enjoyed skiing and sailing in her youth. And throughout her life she enjoyed making her family feel like every day was a special occasion on Silver Lake.

Lois enjoyed fine art, literature and movies. She was a gifted artist and made the world’s best birthday cards for everyone in her family.

She and Dale were members of the Milwaukee Yacht Club from the 1950s to the 1980s.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents August and Mary Zilligen and her brother Thomas.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, March 12, at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 2700 W. Mequon Rd., Mequon, WI 53092, at 11 a.m.

A public visitation will be held prior, from 10  to 11 a.m. at the church.  

Interment will be at Lumen Christi Catholic Cemetery.
