Lloyd A. Bretschneider

Lloyd A. Bretschneider passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Port Haven, where he had been a resident for the last two months. He was 82 years old.

Lloyd was born to Arno and Martha Riebe Bretschneider on Oct. 31, 1938, in the Town of Newburg.

Lloyd grew up in Cedarburg and graduated from Cedarburg High School with the Class of 1957.

He served in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Germany for two years.

On February 8, 1964, Lloyd was united in marriage with Gloria Edwards at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Grafton. The couple settled in Saukville, later moving to Grafton. In 1990 they moved to Port Washington.

Lloyd loved music; when he was younger he enjoyed playing acoustic guitar. Lloyd enjoyed watching NASCAR and collected diecast models of the racecars.

In his free time, he enjoyed socializing with family and friends and playing cards. He also loved to be outside — walking, fishing, grilling or working in his garden.  Lloyd planted a garden every year and was meticulous with appearance in that each row was perfectly straight and free of weeds.

Lloyd was also an avid sports fan, cheering for the Brewers, Bucks and the Green Bay Packers when they were doing well.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gloria, and their children Valerie (Marv) Wahnschaffe of Sheboygan, Vicki (Rick) Kaas of Cedarburg, Wendy Bretschneider of Port Washington and Scott (Tracy Frazier) Bretschneider of Colorado Springs.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Elliot Kaas, Courtney Bretschneider, Shellby (Brock) Darby, Allison, Nicolette, Kaitlyn and Abbigail Bretschneider, and great-granddaughter Aryia Darby.

Further survivors include his sister Ardith (Stanley) Kelsey and special friends Lindsay and Dave, other family and friends.

Private family services will be held.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Port Haven in Port Washington for their kind and compassionate care.

Eernisse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com.
