Literacy center fundraiser returns with grant match

The Adult Literacy Center of Ozaukee County in Grafton is conducting a fundraising campaign, with a $3,000 matching grant at stake.

For the third consecutive year, an anonymous donor will match contributions of as much as $3,000 made by Dec. 31.

The anonymous donor supports  the center because it, in their words, “is an organization that has been quietly and professionally serving people of our area for over 30 years. Literacy is something that most of us take for granted, but for many people improved literacy is the key to a better life for them and for their families. The ALC has provided a gateway to a brighter future for hundreds of our friends, neighbors and co-workers. It deserves our support.”

Funds from the campaign will serve the center’s English Language Learners and Adult Basic Education programs, including instruction in language arts and mathematics, General Education Development preparation, college entrance and class assistance and citizenship Instruction.

Currently, 40 students are enrolled in the programs.

Donations to the center are tax deductible and can be made online at or mailed to Adult Literacy Center of Ozaukee County, 715 Sixth Ave., Grafton WI 53024.
