PAID OBITUARY
Lindsay Emerson Vogel (1957-2018) passed away at his home in La Crosse on Thursday, April 9.
Lindsay was the fourth son of Theodore and Marilyn Vogel of Chenequa. Growing up on Pine Lake, Lindsay discovered his lifelong love of boating, fishing and time spent in nature. He was well known around Pine Lake for his bonhomie and mischievous behavior.
Lindsay graduated from University Lake School in 1975. After high school, he lived in the Rocky Mountain area, where he adopted a beloved German shepherd and pursued his passion for Alpine skiing.
Vogel later matriculated at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., graduating in 1984.
Throughout his professional life, Lindsay worked as a sales associate for companies in the Midwest and Canada.
Lindsay remained an avid skier throughout his life, racing professionally, coaching his two kids and proudly serving on advisory boards for the regional Great Lakes Ski Association and the U.S. Snowboard and Ski Association (USSA).
He was well known in the Harley Davidson biker community and as a vocal supporter of U.S. military veterans.
Lindsay is survived by his brothers Charles Vogel and Theodore Vogel, by the mother of his children, Jennifer Knauer Vogel, and by his two children, Jamie Alysa Vogel of Port Washington and Petty Officer Colin Stewart Vogel, currently on active duty on the U.S.S. Harry Truman.
In lieu of flowers, the Vogel family asks that friends send a donation to the VFW National Home for Children, Attn: Sue Alverson, 3573 S. Waverly Rd., Eaton Rapids, MI, 48827.
A memorial will be held at Pine Lake at a later date.
