LETTERS: NFL and Trump wave flag but failed to defend it with service

To Ozaukee Press:

The National Football League franchise owners have the opinion that NFL players and personnel who do not stand during the playing of our national anthem are being disrespectful of our flag.

The owners have the support of our president, who weighed in with profane tirades labeling those who participate in peaceful civil disobedience during NFL ceremonies as unpatriotic.

Where were all of these hypocritical individuals who so self-righteously wrap themselves in our flag when opportunities arose for them to personally participate in defense of our flag and all it symbolizes?

Only two of the 37 individual owners have served in our armed services, and our president not only declined to volunteer but successfully evaded the draft.

If there are judgments to be made regarding what is or is not patriotic, let them be led by individuals who have manned up to actually demonstrate their fidelity to our nation, and there is no more significant way to do that than active duty service in our military.

Yes, I am a vet, and yes, I do take it personally.
