LETTER: Writers of vitriolic letters could use civil discourse instruction
To Ozaukee Press:
I believe that robust and logical debates ought to be a cornerstone of our democracy. And the Ozaukee Press opinion pages can be a forum for such debates. But a recent flow of vitriolic letters to the editor leads me to ask these questions:
Whatever happened to civil discourse through respectful dialogue? Do some recent letter writers need instruction on logical debate fallacies, such as ad hominem or false dilemma errors?
Failing that, are they at least familiar with the old riposte, “I’m rubber, you’re glue”?
