LETTER: Why aren’t Port police doing their duty to enforce noise law?

To Ozaukee Press:

An editor’s note on the editorial page of the July 15 issue of Ozaukee Press quoted the City of Port Washington municipal code as follows:

“No person shall make or cause to be made any loud, disturbing or unnecessary sounds or noises such as may tend to annoy or disturb another in or about any public street, alley or park or any private residence.”

I see police vehicles drive on Franklin Street many, many times a day and have never, ever seen them pull over an unreasonably noisy truck, motorcycle or car.

Are they afraid of offending some of their friends who drive those vehicles?  Are they afraid they will be deemed too aggressive in their ticketing? Do they have more important things to watch for when they are driving the streets of Port?

It’s turning a blind eye or, worse, not wanting to enforce the codes of the town and the people they work for.
