LETTER: Want evangelization? Get rid of ‘for sale’ sign at Lake Church

To Ozaukee Press:

I read the letter to the editor in last week’s Ozaukee Press suggesting that the bells of the closed St. Mary’s Church in Lake Church should be installed elsewhere so they could ring out to the faithful as part of the Catholic church’s mission of evangelization.

Please let me inform you that there is no evangelization in the disgraceful and disrespectful closing of a lovely, blessed and holy parish.

You want evangelization? Take down the “for sale” sign and help reopen St. Mary’s. Don’t worry about the bells; they are only remnants of 150 years of devoted worship.

You might want to ask what happened to the false promise that “there will always be a Mass at St. Mary’s.”

The time for preaching about evangelization ended when the parish of St. Mary’s  Lake Church came to an end.
