LETTER: Voters should enforce term limit on lingering Grothman
To Ozaukee Press:
I am more than frustrated with our congressman, Glenn Grothman. I am angry. He’s a career politician, having served in the Wisconsin Legislature for 22 years. When he ran for Congress, he pledged to serve only 10 years. If he wins this election, that will be 14 years, seven terms. He relies on a gerrymandered district to favor re-election to his $174,000-a-year seat.
I have contacted his office frequently and get form letters back that do not adequately address what I called about. Grothman does not communicate well in any form. I heard him at a town hall in Grafton, but he hasn’t held any around here in several years and has refused to join his challenger, Democrat Brad Smith, in a forum.
As demonstrated in media interviews and his online presence, Smith is well-spoken, bright and knowledgeable. He served in the military, which means he knows how to work together to solve problems and get things done. We need someone with a backbone to stand up to the White House’s gross and illegal overreach.
Speaking of overreach, as a congressman, Republican governor candidate Tom Tiffany tried to mess with Wisconsin’s election results when Trump lost. How do we overlook his messing with democracy on behalf of Trump? His opponent for Wisconsin governor, David Crowley, is championed by Gov. Evers as his best successor. And Barack Obama has endorsed Crowley.
Independents, anti-MAGA Republicans, and anyone considering a third party, please vote for Brad Smith for Congress, David Crowley for governor, and, for that matter, all the Democrats. Our economic stability depends on it. We need people working for us, not for the three billionaires who are flooding the Wisconsin Republican candidates with cash. Vote on or before Nov. 3. Your one vote is more powerful than their piles of influence money.
