LETTER: Trump embraces dictators and the GOP frets about socialism

To Ozaukee Press:

Dennis Gasper tossed out the GOP’s favorite talking point in his letter to the editor in last week’s Ozaukee Press.   However, he did not define what he means by “socialist government.”

Would he include Canada or other countries because they have universal health care? Does he include Norway and Sweden as socialist governments because they don’t have haters entering churches and schools carrying loaded rifles? Does he prefer places with dictators like Russia as Trump does? Or maybe Saudi Arabia, where the crown prince can order the death of journalists? He might enjoy Israel, where religion determines your rights.

Mr. Gasper wants us to understand Donald Trump, but he doesn’t explain how to do that when the coin gets tossed every day. According to Mr. Gasper, I should like and understand Trump or be punished with socialism. Really? Let’s stick with a democratic republic and the U.S. Constitution.   It needs to be defended and protected more than Mr. Trump.
