LETTER: Tiffany, Trump don’t get it: inflation is crisis for families

To Ozaukee Press:

When gas prices skyrocket, the burden doesn’t just hit the pump—it hits a family’s kitchen table. For us, gas was never about an optional weekend road trip. It was the literal price of keeping me alive. After I fought and beat aplastic anemia, the medical victory quickly gave way to a financial nightmare. Post-recovery care required driving to the hospital every single week, ruthlessly draining our wallet just so I could stay healthy and be there for my family.

This financial strain reached every corner of our daily life, stripping away the joy of childhood from my daughters. We had to cut back on their swim lessons and music classes because the fuel to get there became too expensive. We stopped eating out, stopped supporting local mom-and-pop grocery stores and abandoned neighborhood farmers markets. Now, we shop strictly at Costco on credit. We are borrowing against our future just to buy basic groceries today. We are drowning in debt and in profound need of relief.

This is the devastating reality of an avoidable inflation crisis. Donald Trump and Rep. Tom Tiffany are simply too expensive for working families. Their sweeping tariffs act as a massive consumption tax on everyday goods, making the basic items we buy on credit even pricier. Meanwhile, reckless trade wars and foreign conflicts have disrupted global markets and driven fuel costs through the roof. Yet, Tiffany backed Trump at every turn.

These leaders are completely out of touch with the actual cost of living. They don’t know what it feels like to look at a gas gauge, look at your children and realize your life-saving medical appointments are draining their childhood. We don’t need vanity projects or trade wars. We need immediate, tangible relief. Vote for Democrats on Nov. 3.
