LETTER: For those who loved golf club, sale for preserve devastating
To Ozaukee Press:
The article in last week’s Ozaukee Press about the sale of the former Port Washington Country Club brought a few tears to my eyes.
My husband, now deceased, and I had our first date there in the summer of 1955.
As the golf course grew over the years, we golfed there more times than I can count. He loved it there. When it was turned into a nature preserve, he was devastated, as was I.
There are many golfers around this county who were very unhappy with that turn of events.
We saw it as a complete waste. But, of course, the environmentalists saw it differently. So sad.
