LETTER: Revitalized Senior Center is humming with new activity

The Port Washington Adult Community Senior Center is going through a transformation. Yes, it is still located at 403 W. Foster St. Yes, it still serves those who are “55 years or better” in the city and its surrounding areas. And, yes, it is still the best deal in town. So, what is the transformation?

Under the leadership of our new director, Diane Chilinski, the center is being cleaned and reorganized. She has created designated areas for specific activities—technology, exercise and music, just to name a few.

New on-site events are added that include movie matinees and dedicated game

days. Diane has introduced additional health and wellness activities, too, such as cardio drumming. (If you have not experienced an activity that helps to relieve frustrations and puts a smile on your face, I highly recommend this activity.) 

We have a new, and very engaged Commission on Aging, with members who are focused on, and working toward, a bright future for the center. Together we are creating a more effective and welcoming community—all within the same building.

Please help us to keep this exciting momentum going. Whether you are any age and want to volunteer, or you are “55 or better,” or have a parent, grandparent, friend or other relative who might enjoy all that our Senior Center has to offer, we want to hear from you. Together we can make great things happen.
