LETTER: Politicians who offer nothing but rancor deserve term limits

To Ozaukee Press:

There have been many victims of the Covid-19 pandemic. Lives have been lost, the education system has been disrupted, families have been separated from their loved ones, many businesses had to shut down and may never reopen. The victims are not Republican and Democrat; they are human beings. One need only read the Ozaukee Press or the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel to find other victims and negative impacts of the pandemic.

There is a void of successful narratives of our elected leaders working together. All I see from them is rancor, finger pointing and the maturity of children fighting over a toy. They seem to be incapable of any compromise or teamwork for the greater good of our state. I believe that if any Democrat or Republican came up with a brilliant idea to help the citizens, it would be dismissed by the opposing party. They do not have the fortitude to even appear to agree with the opposition. They do not do what is right. They just want to win.

Our society has never been more polarized. I propose that we use our vote to implement term limits for the governor and all legislators. Bound by time, they may feel implored before leaving office to do what is right or at least do their job.          

Maybe, with more turnover in government, we can get lucky periodically and there will be a group of elected officials that will work for us.
