LETTER: People fired over vaccination rules do not deserve benefits

To Ozaukee Press:

So, Republicans in Wisconsin, an “at will” employer state (which they pushed for and normally take great glee in), want unemployment benefits for people who are fired or quit because they don’t like their employer’s mandates to get vaccinated.     

What a bunch of sanctimonious glad-handling to their base.

If you fire a person for not caring enough about their fellow workers to get the vaccine and violating a company rule requiring vaccination, then sure, let’s give them benefits. They will have earned unemployment benefits for making a “my body, my choice” decision.

But if someone quits because they are immune-compromised or to care for others, off with the benefits because they are a malingerer?

Where are the fiscal conservatives now? Where are the “my, body, my choice” charlatans when it comes to women’s rights?
