LETTER: Letter criticizing Fauci showed ignorance of how science works
To Ozaukee Press:
Reading the letters to the editor in the March 11 issue, I was “amused” (that’s really not the right word since the opinion that was expressed does not reflect any concern for public health) by the letter with the headline, “Those liberals and their masks,” and comments directed toward Dr. Fauci’s changing advice since March 2010 and those liberal “flip-floppers.”
It always strikes me that this kind of letter never takes into account that science changes with new information, tests and discoveries. If it didn’t we would still have “physicians” recommending blood-letting to cure most diseases and we’d know that the world is flat.
Science and the advice we are getting from educated, trained and experienced professionals in the field of infectious disease that reflect the most recent study results should guide our public health decisions.
Please care about your neighbors—wear the mask.
