LETTER: At least deadlock will prevent horrible laws like GOP tax bill

To Ozaukee Press:

According to Wharton economists and reported in the New York Times, the Republican tax bill will starve the federal government of $102 billion this year.

Of that amount, $88 billion (86.3%) will be put in the pockets of the top 1% of Americans as measured in economic terms.

The rest of us, who comprise 99%, get to share a paltry $14 billion (13.7%) of this.

Meanwhile, as is usually the case under Republicans, the national debt has soared to $22 trillion and is expected to continue for a very long time.

I am not bothered by a deadlocked Congress, as it prevents them from passing horrible legislation such as the last tax bill.

If 99% of us had received 99%, or $101 billion, of the available $102 billion, I would feel a lot different. You might too.
