LETTER: King Day a reminder of need for more inclusive community

To Ozaukee Press:

Martin Luther King Jr. Day, observed Monday, Jan. 17, reminded us that we need to stop the perpetuation of systemic racism. We need to advocate for our children so that the opportunities we make available to them will have positive consequences instead of reproducing inequalities. We need all elected officials to take to heart the messages of love, justice and equity from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In our current age of intolerance by some towards people of different races, it is more important than ever that we rediscover the ways used by King to advance a more inclusive and equitable community. Let’s reflect on where we are currently with diversity, inclusion and equity—and how far we still have to go.
