LETTER: Kelly applies laws as written, is right choice in court race

To Ozaukee Press:

On Tuesday, Feb. 18, a primary election will be held to select a judge to sit on the Wisconsin State Supreme Court.  Incumbent Justice Daniel Kelly, who was appointed to the court in 2016, has an excellent track record.

In an interview with WUWM radio, Kelly stated his position of applying the law as it exists and not as we may wish it to be. He understands the rule of law and that the people of Wisconsin want cases decided according to the standards of that law.

The people of Wisconsin, through their legislators and their power to vote, are the ones who have created our state laws. Kelly believes in the importance of upholding the U.S. Constitution, the Constitution of the State of Wisconsin and state laws as determined by the people of Wisconsin. Justice Kelly will not interpret the law as he thinks it should be.

By electing Justice Kelly, Wisconsinites will know that the laws of our state will be applied as written.
