LETTER: Irresponsible freedom took down empire, prolongs Covid

To Ozaukee Press:
    “When what we want most is the freedom from responsibility, then we cease to be free.” Tim Sheehy, president of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, nailed it when he referenced this line borrowed from Edward Gibbons’ “The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.”  
    In terms of Covid masking, vaccines, public health and your unknown fellow citizen, you can give your opinion about your rights, but you cannot deny that freedom has a cost.
