LETTER: How sad that delightful Jewish festival needed heavy security

My husband Mike and I were able to attend the Jewish Food Festival held Aug. 2 and 3 in Mequon at the Fox Town Station. The food was excellent, ranging from corned beef and pastrami sandwiches to matzo ball soup. Family activities included a petting zoo, giant inflatables, craft-making projects and more. The music and live entertainment got your toes tapping and your hands clapping.  Everyone attending the fair was happy to be there and having a good time.

The only sad reflective thoughts came when you saw the amount of security required to have this family event.  Unfortunately, there are those people in the U.S. who look to do harm to communities they do not like and respect.  Kudos to those who were there to provide security and protection to those attending the Jewish Food Festival.

Kudos also to those who planned the festival and made it a safe, fun reality for those who were there.
