LETTER: Horse de-wormer, Fox News, GOP thwart vaccination drive

To Ozaukee Press:
When this virus thing first started, I never dreamed we would still be dealing with it almost two years later. The first glimmer of hope was President Trump telling us a vaccine was put on high priority and would be available soon. That proved true, and when the vaccine came out, my family and I were overjoyed and couldn’t wait to get it. I thought everyone would get it and we would all go back to normal living.
Well, it turns out I was sadly mistaken, as prominent Republican politicians and Fox News were telling people they don’t need it. Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch got the vaccine and made it mandatory for all employees of Fox News. Talk about hypocrisy. They are part of the reason we can’t get over the threshold of herd immunity.
Republican governors are signing laws making it illegal for schools to have mask mandates. I guess over 400 kids dying from the virus is a small price to pay for having to wear a mask. Meanwhile, back in Wisconsin, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson is telling people to take horse de-wormer instead of a free vaccine that has proved successful in stopping people from getting sick.
I have to believe that a big reason for telling people not to get vaccinated is to make Joe Biden look like a failure as a president who promised to eradicate the virus. Winning elections at the cost of people’s lives is evil and should not be tolerated. Please, people, when it’s time to vote, remember one side wants to end the pandemic and the other side only wants your vote if you’re still breathing. More than 30% of all Republicans polled refuse to get vaccinated, so we have a long ways to go to end this nightmare.
