LETTER: Guess who voted for a secure fence at the southern border

To Ozaukee Press:

Memories are so short.

There were two previous government shutdowns due to a stalemate between Congress and presidents.

These were during the Bill Clinton and Barack Obama administrations.

Previous elected officials in 2006 voted in support of the Secure Fence Act as one way to deal with the illegal immigration crisis.

Voting in favor of the legislation on Aug. 19, 2006 were Senators Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer, along with 22 other Democratic senators who voted in favor of the act, which passed the Senate by a vote of 80 to 19.

What has changed?

Perhaps there is enough blame for the dysfunction of our government to go around.
