LETTER: Grothman doesn’t understand women’s health or health care

To Ozaukee Press:
Enough is enough. Years of Rep. Glenn Grothman’s “my way or the highway” approach have gotten us nowhere. Where is the promised replacement for Obamacare? Nowhere to be seen. Instead we have nothing but worries over the cost of health care, and just last week Medicare and Social Security got put on the chopping block in order to pay for tax cuts given the rich.

Grothman is a personable fellow, but that isn’t enough.

At a town hall meeting in Neenah, Grothman said women can get their birth control needs met “at the grocery store.” No one who understood women’s health would ever say that.

In Plymouth, he said, “In general, people without insurance have much less cost.”

Really? What if they get sick or have an accident, what then?

Grothman voted to deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions.

Everyone I know has one of those.

Can we start showing some common sense?

For Christmas last year, Grothman gave the richest Americans the biggest tax break imaginable.

How to pay for it?

At the time, Grothman told the folks in Randolph, “No one is talking about cutting Medicare.”

In January, he told folks in Omro there would be no change to Medicare. In Neenah, he promised he would not cut Social Security.

Well, guess what, both are on the chopping block. Mitch McConnell just put them there to pay for Grothman’s tax cuts.

We need common sense in Congress.

Dan Kohl is a third generation Wisconsinite who grew up and raised his family in Wisconsin’s 6th District.

He’s smart, independent and moderate.

He’s ready for Congress, and I’m ready for change.
