LETTER: Grafton trustees targeted by Meinecke should be re-elected

To Ozaukee Press:

Months ago Grafton Village Trustee Susan Meinecke asked Grafton Village Hall employees to copy specific emails that had been distributed among unnamed trustees. It was, I understand, a time consuming task for the village staff that took time away from their regularly assigned duties. What good came of that?

Last month Meinecke filed a lawsuit alleging a conspiracy and claiming that some members of the Village Board were part of the conspiracy.

Has the worthless and costly “Voilandism” of recent years been resurrected in Grafton in the form of “Meineckeism?” And just in time for the spring elections. As they say, “deja vu all over again.”

While unnamed, Village Trustees Dave Antoine, John Gassert and Tom Krueger, who are on the April 2 ballot, seem to be under the Meinecke microscope.

These three have done a fine job of holding the line on expenses, have done much to make Grafton a better place and deserve our support in next week’s election.

These trustees supported the move of emergency medical dispatch to Ozaukee County. That move has proved to be very successful. It has reduced response time. Everyone in Grafton who makes the call can be comfortable knowing that help is quickly on the way. These trustees have accomplished much for all of us.

Two Grafton citizens are running against the three incumbents. On the Facebook page of trustee candidate John Meinecke (yes, that is Trustee Meinecke’s husband), he calls for replacing the Grafton EMS Service, currently provided by the Grafton Fire Department, with a contractor.

Raise your hands if you favor “rent an ambulance” service for Grafton. Wonder how long the ambulance will take to get to your door.

I urge Grafton citizens to vote to retain Dave Antoine, John Gassert and Tom Krueger as village trustees.

Bob Hoffman
