LETTER: Gaslighter Grothman doesn’t listen; Smith hears the voters

To Ozaukee Press:

On Feb. 21, 2025, I attended Glenn Grothman’s last in-person town hall in Oshkosh. The crowd was too large for the building under fire code, so many of us stood outside in the cold until we could get in. People were angry, sad and scared. Instead of answering questions, Grothman gaslit his constituents. No one believed him, and the crowd began chanting, “Do your job!”

The moment made international news and set off a wave of Republicans avoiding their constituents. It doesn’t feel that long ago to me, but people seem much more beaten down today. So does Grothman.

Now for the good news: in November, we can vote for a remarkable candidate,

Brad Smith. I first met him almost a year ago, and he stood out from the crowded field because he goes out of his way to say hello and remembers what you tell him.

When I asked to meet about disability rights and special education, he showed up with a pen and paper and listened for two hours. Brad isn’t running just to win your vote. He’s running to represent you, and no other candidate has worked as hard to learn the issues or cares as much.

Let’s send Brad Smith to Washington.
