LETTER: Data center is cutting off bike trail; it should pay for bridge

The Ozaukee Interurban Trail runs alongside the site where one of the largest data center complexes in the world will be built.
To Ozaukee Press:
The investment Microsoft is making at Mount Pleasant is in the range of $3.3 billion, which probably means Vantage will be spending at least that much in
Port Washington. Seems to me they could throw in a couple extra million for an Ozaukee Interurban Trail bridge over I-43 and a repave of at least the section of the trail from Highway LL to Dixie Road.
We Energies and ATC are probably
going to make a bundle from this development and maybe they could toss in a few extra bucks.
It most likely wouldn’t even scratch Vantage’s petty cash box and may not even be a blip on their cost spreadsheets. This is something for the city to consider adding to the contract before they sign. Any money saved by the county could be used to repave the particularly bumpy trail section from Sauk Road to LL.
