LETTER: Both Dems and GOP have used gerrymandering to win votes

To Ozaukee Press:

Last week, letters to the editor in the Press complained of Republican gerrymandering and blocking things that the left wants done.

News flash—this is politics! Both sides have always tried to slant things their way. That is part of the swamp that President Trump is trying to change.

While the letter writers are upset by what the right does, we are just as upset at what the left does. We are disgusted on how the left continues to block the border wall and how they refuse to bring the USMCA deal up for a vote.

It seemed like every time Gov. Walker tried to get something done, the left would get one of their judges to overturn it, only to have the state Supreme Court uphold Walker’s decision.

What about the kangaroo court going on in D.C. now? No bias there.              

While the letters complained that artificial districts are unfair, guess what? When Democrats hold the majority, they will redraw the districts to favor their wishes. We on the right are just as upset by the district called Dane County. Once again, they decided who our leader is, even though 90% of the rest of the state wanted Walker re-elected. Because of the high density of population there (including non-resident students), Dane County got to decide who our governor is.

I believe an electoral-college type of vote is needed so that all districts have a voice and not just one geographical area deciding what is good for all. While the writers from last week don’t like how things are now, I choose to use the words of former President Obama: “Elections have consequences.”
