LETTER: America’s Covid death rate is far less severe than in the U.K.
To Ozaukee Press:
Your paper has compared the U.S. Covid-19 status to what is happening in the U.K. At the time of this writing, the U.S. has more than 1 million more total cases and better than 40,000 more deaths than the U.K. Sounds terrible until you compare apples to apples. The U.S. has about 800 more cases per million population, but has less than half of the U.K.’s deaths per million.
If I go by those numbers I would certainly rather be in the U.S. if I became seriously ill with this virus. The U.S. has also performed more than 1,000 more tests per million than the U.K.

Editor’s note: The letter writer is correct. The website statistica.com ranks the U.K. as having the fourth highest Covid death rate among the world countries with 432 per million population. The U.S. ranks ninth with 210 deaths per million.
