LETTER: As abuses mount up, cruelty defines the Trump presidency

To Ozaukee Press:

The first words of our Constitution are “We the People,” not “I the President.” Trump has been an abject failure as president because he has failed at being a decent human being. I believe that Republicans who claim to be Christian know that cruelty is the main thing with Trump.

He has arrested and intimidated innocent immigrants and cut off aid to starving people. He has cut funding from universities and the CDC for research to find a cancer cure. He has decimated the EPA and prefers fossil fuels over renewable energy.

I think everyone could agree that having his thugs tackle an immigrant who has lived in our country for 30 some years and raised three sons who all became U.S. Marines is despicable.

He treats a murdering dictator named Putin with more respect than our allies. He is trying to erase history in our museums by removing anything to do with slavery, which is a big part of our history.

The Republican Congress has been feckless in checking Trump’s abuses. Something has to change or we will no longer be a democracy. If you have children and grandchildren, you are gambling on their future if you keep voting Republican. History will remember who stood up and who caved.
