LETTER: ‘Freedom’ from vaccination causes many to die needlessly

To Ozaukee Press:

There is no such thing as unbounded freedom. We are a country of laws and all laws restrict our freedom in some way. We drive on the right side of the road. We pay taxes. We register to vote. We pay our bills.

You cannot enter your child into day care, pre-K or grade school without vaccinations. If you are a member of the armed forces, you are required to get certain vaccinations depending on where you are deployed. If you apply for a visa to enter the U.S., you are required to prove that you have certain vaccinations.

Vaccinations not only protect the individual but the entire group from illness and death. Vaccinations provide freedom from worry and the accompanying anxiety.

Thanks to my parents, I don’t worry about polio and many other horrible diseases that threatened those who lived in and 19th century and earlier.

In this country, with enormous gratitude to those who invented, produce and deliver the Covid-19 vaccines, we all have the ability to get vaccinated. It’s the Christian and patriotic thing to do. Besides, participation and cooperation in this are the foundation for creating the safe country we all wish to live in.

Not all unvaccinated people support Trump and his lies, but many are unvaccinated because of him. Many have already died and now almost everyone who is dying from this virus is unvaccinated. The virus doesn’t care about politics and will certainly continue to prey on the unvaccinated. Many will die needlessly.
