Lenord Harry “Len” Rubens

Lenord Harry “Len” Rubens, 81, of Grafton, Wis., passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023, after a brief illness.

He was born March 31, 1941, in Dunsmuir, Calif., the son of Jack and Norma (Green) Rubens.

Len grew up in Los Angeles, and following high school graduation he served in the Air Force from 1960 to 1968.

He married Elizabeth “Peg” Belding in Mojave, Calif., on Feb. 19, 1966.

Following the Air Force, Len attended college and began his career in sales at Cummins Engine Co. in Columbus, Ind.

Len and Peg had four children, and his work took them from Indiana to Wisconsin, where they resided in Green Bay and then Sheboygan.

Len was employed at Kohler Generator as a sales manager until his retirement in 1999.

In 1998, Len married Judith “Judy” Lohr Conger, and in 2001 they relocated to Fort Myers, Fla.

He was an active member of Iona Hope Episcopal Church, served on the board of directors of the Jimmy Lohr Scholarship Foundation and was an active volunteer at Cypress Cove Retirement Community, where he served on their resident council, Inquiring Minds and veterans groups.

Len was regularly engaged in fun activities such as plays, bird watching, photography, reading and travel. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren at the pool and the beach and sharing his love for reading as well as Love Boat ice cream.

Len and Judy enjoyed traveling and visited many places, including Antigua, Alaska, Ireland and many Caribbean Islands. A favorite trip was a cruise around Cape Horn, South America, highlighted by a walk with the penguins.

In October 2022, Len and Judy moved back to Wisconsin.

Len will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious smile and his kind and compassionate spirit.

Len was preceded in death by his wife Peg (Oct. 29, 1996), his parents Jack and Norma Rubens, his twin brother Larry Rubens and his sister Jackie Bishop.

Len is survived by his wife of 25 years, Judy Rubens. He is also survived by his sister Elizabeth Rubens; his children Sean Rubens, Todd (Debbie) Rubens, Irene (Scott) Symes and Joe (Sarah) Rubens; and his grandchildren Marie Fiacchino and Ethan Symes and Rocco and Vincent Rubens.

He is further survived by his stepchildren Gail (John) Wheeler and Keith (Annie) Conger and his grandchildren Sarah and Rachel Wheeler and Emerson and Mallory Conger.

A celebration of life will take place on May 13 at Village Pointe Commons, 101 Walnut Cir., Grafton, Wis. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. and a service at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jimmy Lohr Memorial Golf Program (Sheboygan County High School Scholarships).
