Laura Stricker

Mrs. Laura Stricker of Port Washington passed away at her residence early Saturday morning, May 13, 2023. She was 95 years old.

Laura was born in Plymouth on Aug. 21, 1927, the daughter of Edwin and Mildred Jacobs Zimmermann.

She attended local schools and graduated from Plymouth High School.

On April 19, 1947, Laura was united in marriage with Arwin Stricker in Sheboygan.

The couple settled in Port Washington and raised their family of five children.

Laura worked as a cook at St. Mary’s Catholic School, serving the children healthy food and love for 22 years.  She retired in 1990.

Arwin preceded her in death in 1991.

Laura was an active member of St. John XXIII Catholic Parish and the Christian Women. She was a proud member of the VFW 5373 Auxiliary and served as an officer of the organization for more than 25 years.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking, puzzles and time with her family. Laura loved a good game of dominos and was a fierce sheepshead player, often teaching others to play so she would have a competitor. She liked watching the Brewers, but loved watching the Packers even more.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children David (Michele) Stricker of Port Washington, Pamela (the Rev. Stephen) Mueller of Sturgeon Bay, Kay (Dave) Verley of Port Washington and Holly (Jeff) Eibs, also of Port Washington, and 11 grandchildren, James (Kristin) Stricker, Kelly (Mark Nagarajan) Stricker, Katie Stricker, Kari Stricker, Christopher (Nikki) Mueller, Krystle Mueller, Jennifer (Brode) Mitchell, Andrew (Tabitha) Verley, Chad (Jennifer) Eibs, Marsha (Jake) Mamerow and Brandon (Kim) Eibs.

She is further survived by 27 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, brothers Edward (Sharon) Zimmermann of Sheboygan Falls and Thomas (Susan) Zimmermann of Plymouth, aunt Mary Euclide, many nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband Arwin, their son John “Jack” Stricker, grandson Jason, sister Arlene (the late Frederick “Fritz”) Renk and brother Arthur (the late Madelyn) Zimmermann.  She was also preceded in death by brothers-in-law Arthur, William and Arnold Stricker and sisters-in-law Adeline Gilson and Ardelle Mordhorst.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, May 19, at St. John XXIII Parish,  St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington.  Father Patrick Wendt will preside.

Laura will be laid to rest beside her husband the following day at St. Mary Mausoleum, Port Washington.

The family will receive visitors on Friday at the church from 4 p.m. until the Mass at 6 p.m.

Memorials, if desired, are suggested to the American Cancer Society or St. John XXIII Catholic Parish in Laura’s name.

Eernisse Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
