Laura A. Goeden

Ms. Laura Goeden of Port Washington passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee after a long illness. She was 55 years old.

Laura was born on Nov. 3, 1966, in Port Washington to Donald and Carol (nee Fenney) Goeden.

She grew up in Port Washington and graduated from Shorewood High School through its hearing-impaired program with the cClass of 1985.

After high school, she attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in comparative literature from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

In her professional career, Laura worked at Bolens Manufacturing in Port Washington for several years and then at the U.S. Post Office in Milwaukee for 14 years.

She then got her license as a paraprofessional and worked in the Marshfield School District and later at the Milwaukee Sign Language School.

Laura had a passion for genealogy and traced her family history back to the 1300s.  Using the information she collected, she loved to travel and connect with family overseas. She enjoyed volunteering at the Port Washington Historical Society and the Luxembourg American Cultural Society in Belgium.

Laura was an avid Wisconsin sports fan and loved cheering for the Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Badgers.

She also loved her sheltie dogs Sport and Mully.

Laura is survived by her parents Don and Carol of Fredonia and her three siblings, Cathy (Brian) Wilger of Port Washington, Michael (Carmen) Goeden of Port Washington and Mark (Novy) Goeden of Chicago.

She is further survived by her uncle Joe (Maryann) Fenney, her niece Ellie, three nephews, Jacob, Branden and Brody, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Tilford and Dorothy Fenney and Roman and Marie Goeden.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. at St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington. Father Patrick Wendt will celebrate the Mass.

Visitation will take place at the Church on Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Laura will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Port Washington.
