Kraus outscoring foes all by herself

Abby Kraus has been a scoring machine the last two games for the Cedar Grove-Belgium High School girls’ soccer team.

Kraus netted seven goals in the last two games, both big victories.

The Rockets on Monday moved to 5-1 on the season with a 6-1 win over Sheboygan Lutheran/Christian, 6-1.

Kraus had four goals and two assists.

Amy TenHaken and Bailey Cooney each scored once.

Madison Bohacek had two assists and TenHaken and Alex Mentink each had one.

The Rockets led 1-0 at halftime “with Lutheran/Christian putting on pressure but some nice one-on-one saves from keeper Brooke Braga,” coach Elias Garza said.

The game was delayed partway through the second half due to a thunderstorm. The Rockets were up, 4-1, at the time and netted two more goals after play resumed.

The Rockets had 31 shots to five for Lutheran/Christian.

On April 16, Kraus scored three times in a 4-0 victory over rival Ozaukee at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.

Kelsey Lukens had one goal. TenHaken had two assists and Haven Minick and Shelby Cooney each had one.

The Rockets outshot Ozaukee, 14-5. Eighteen Rockets saw playing time.

Cedar Grove-Belgium was scheduled to play at Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah on Tuesay, at Oostburg on Thursday, in a Brookfield Academy quadrangular tournament on Saturday and against Kohler on Tuesday, April 30.

Ozaukee, 1-3, was scheduled to play Sheboygan Lutheran on Tuesday, Kohler on Thursday and at Oostburg on Monday.
