Killian Burton

Killian I. Burton, age 95, was called to his eternal home on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021.

Killian was born in Fredonia, Wis., on Sept. 20, 1926, to parents Michael and Elizabeth (Thomas) Burton.

He was united in marriage to Mildred Schueller at Holy Rosary Parish, Holy Cross Chapel on Oct. 9, 1948.

Killian was a lifelong dairy farmer, starting out on his own at 17 years old on the family farm in Belgium. Together with Mildred, he worked incredibly hard to provide for his family and spent a great deal of his time helping family and neighbors.

Sharing over 60 years of marriage, Killian was a loving caregiver for Mildred while she battled Parkinson’s disease at the end of her life.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching the Packers and Brewers, bowling and playing sheepshead.

Killian was a longtime member of Divine Savior Parish and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Killian is survived by his children Mary Burton, Roger (Margaret) Burton, Joanne (Kim) Viesselmann, Dan (Jenny) Burton and Judy Burton; grandchildren Amy (Jack) Gonzales, Leah (Tony) Stirling, Nick (Lindsay) Burton, Joe (Kyrie) Burton and Jim (Bri) Burton; great-grandchildren Austin, Kayla, Adeline, Azaleah, Ana, Nelia, Brooks and Cas; sister Marcella “Marcy” (Glenn) Dietzmann; sisters-in-law Pearl Paradise, Carol Flerchinger, Bernice Schueller, Ginny Schueller and Angie Burton; and daughter-in-law Kathy (Bob) Stuyck. He is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Killian was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mildred, son Gerald Burton, grandson Chad Viesselmann, brother Lambert Burton and sister Emily (Wally) Liermann.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021, at 6 p.m. at Divine Savior Parish, Holy Cross Chapel, 5330 County Rd. B, Belgium, Wis. 53004.  Father Gideon Buya will preside.

Visitation will be at church from 4 p.m. until the Mass at 6 p.m.

Killian will be laid to rest next to his wife Mildred at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lake Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mary’s Cemetery Lake Church are appreciated.

Killian’s family wished to thank Cedar Grove Gardens and Compasses Hospice for the loving care they provided.
