Kenneth “Ken” Wunsch

Kenneth “Ken” Wunsch of Port Washington peacefully passed away on Nov. 24, 2025, at the age of 90.

Ken was born on May 12, 1935, on Mother’s Day to his late parents Elmer Francis and Louise Theresa (nee Pankratz) Wunsch in Rozellville, Wis.

He was united in marriage to his late wife, Leah Flynn, on Sept. 17, 1955, and together, in their 68 years of marriage, they were blessed with five daughters.

Ken had a great love for sports, particularly for the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. Since Ken was blessed with five daughters, he involved them in sports, often taking them to nearby parks and practicing baseball with them or teaching them to bowl. Ken continued his love of sports all through his life by joining local teams of basketball, baseball and bowling.

Ken was a member of the Port Washington Senior Center and held the title of president of the pool league and sat on the pool league board of directors. Ken was also one of the top pool shooters for a long time. He enjoyed playing cribbage and pitch and shooting pool.

Ken and his wife Leah spent many years camping around the country. After retiring the camper, they were “winter-Texans,” where they would escape the cold Wisconsin weather together for 26 years.

Ken is survived by his five daughters, Laurie (Mark) Altendorf, Linda Runkel, Lisa Poole, LeAnn (Dave) Kuehl and Lonne (Mark) Schreiner; along with 10 grandchildren, Tami, Mike, Chris, Patrick, Timmy, Stephanie, Tony, Johanna, Moira and Sophia; great-grandchildren Lexi, Jazmyn, Mav, Chase and Ian; one great-great-grandchild, Jaymeson; and four brothers, Jim, Paul (Kathy), Charles and Larry (Sharon). Ken is further survived by many friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Leah, his parents Elmer and Louise, his sister Sally Buffington and brother-in-law Jack Buffington, sister-in-law Rosie Wunsch and son-in-law Sam D’Acquisto.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ken will take place on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the church. A committal service will immediately follow the Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

The family would like to request the wearing of sports apparel to honor Ken. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Port Washington Senior Center Green Felt Club or the American Heart Association are appreciated.
