Kenneth “Ken” Weyker

Kenneth “Ken” Weyker of Bonita Springs, Fla., formerly of Dacada, Wis., passed away on May 7, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 87 years old.

Ken was born in Sheboygan on Jan. 26, 1938, to William and Loretta (Schmitz) Weyker.  

He attended Dacada Grade School and graduated from Port Washington High School.  

On Oct. 18, 1958, he was united in marriage to Joan Mayer at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Holy Cross, Wis. They spent 66 years together and were blessed with four children, seven grandchildren and nine plus one on the way great-grandchildren.

Ken had many jobs, working at Mercury Marine, Simplicity, Wisconsin Electric and Power Co. and the Post Office. He then started his own business, Brite Star Rug Co., which he and Joan ran together. After moving to Florida 38 years ago, Ken started Ken’s Home Improvements.

Ken loved to play cards and enjoyed talking to people, especially at their little corner bar, Buffalo Chips. He made many friends over the years while traveling. Ken loved gardening and showing off his little piece of paradise in Florida to all who would stop by. He loved the game show channel and watching the Packers, Brewers and NASCAR.  

In Ken’s younger days, he played softball, volleyball and bowled on the Suds, Rugs and Rocks team.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Joan, his children Debbie (Brent) Lukens, Cory (Lon) Fredericksen, Bruce (Pam) Weyker and Bonnie (fiance Gary Schowalter) TenHaken; grandchildren Brian (Steph) Benson, Katie (fiance Scott Richards) Benson, Jenna (Caleb) Winn, Danielle Weyker, Alex (friend Kaysee) TenHaken, Anna (Austin) Buelow and Amy TenHaken; great-grandchildren Aubri, Easton and Charlotte Benson, Evan Richards, Charlotte, Coraline, Elliott and Eliza Winn and Levi Buelow; and brothers Willy (Mary) Weyker and Wally (Laura) Weyker. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary, his in-laws Art and Loretta Mayer, Joe Mayer and John Mayer and Louise and Don Koller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Congregation, St. Nicholas Chapel, W4274 County Hwy. K, Random Lake (Dacada), WI 53075. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 1 to 3 p.m.  

Ken will be laid to rest at St. Nicholas Cemetery immediately following the Mass.  

If desired, memorials in Mr. Weyker’s name to a charity of your choice are suggested in lieu of flowers.

Eernisse Funeral Home of Belgium is assisting the family with arrangements.
