Keen competition, tough judges in Port Chili Bowl

There was a nip in the air Sunday, making it a perfect day for crowds to head to downtown Port Washington for the seventh annual Port Washington Kiwanis Club’s Chili Bowl. Among those buying a ticket to visit six eateries in downtown and enjoy a sample of their chili were (top photo in body text, from left) Sarah Dahl, Sue Yass, Avery Newell, Sam Yass,  Addie Dahl and Sophie Newell, who ate at Schooner Pub. Middle row, from left: Robert Meredith, owner of Yummy Bones, dished out chili for Kelly Kesery to serve, Larry Neitzel tasted his sample of Yummy Bones’ chili while Bailey Ridgway prepared to serve chili at the Steerage Dining Saloon. Diners were able to cast their votes for their favorite chili, and the Moonlight Tavern was declared the overall favorite, garnering 56 votes of the 247 cast.
