The Ozaukee High School volleyball team dropped its first two matches of the Big East Conference season last week.

On Tuesday, the Warriors lost a 3-1 match to visiting Reedsville, 25-14, 25-10, 23-25, 25-17.

“Reedsville came out firing and they were ready, Ozaukee coach Vanessa Depies said.

“Our team started out slow, but were able to scrape along some impressive plays pulling out a third set win.”

Depies said she was impressed with Ozaukee’s defensive effort.

“Our defense was there while our offense seemed to be quiet,” she said.

Libero Madison Karmasin had 30 digs.

“Madison left everything out in the back of the court, hustling and digging after every ball,” Depies said.

Sophomore Natalie Miller led the Warriors with seven kills.

“Natalie continues to be impressive in the front row in her role and continues to take challenges in a positive manner,” Depies said.

Last Thursday, the Warriors were swept at Sheboygan Lutheran, 25-13, 25-14, 25-17.

“Our girls just could not rally multiple points together to compete with Sheboygan Lutheran. Sheboygan Lutheran has a solid starting rotation and we just came up short of stopping them,” Depies said.

Karmasin had 15 digs.

The Warriors host Random Lake on Thursday and play at Howards Grove on Tuesday, Sept. 21.
