Kalies, Greicar lead Grafton boys’ cross country

The Grafton High School boys’ cross country team finished in the top half of the 14 teams at the West Allis Central Bulldog Invite on Friday.
The Black Hawks scored 157 points, good for sixth place.
Waukesha North won with 47 points. Cedarburg had 79, followed by Kenosha Bradford’s 109, Greendale’s 115 and Franklin’s 124.
Oak Creek was seventh with 218, followed by New Berlin West’s 227, Whitewater’s 230 and Kettle Moraine Lutheran’s 262.
Chris Kalies led the Hawks by finishing the 5,000-meter course in 18 minutes, 2 seconds, and in 16th place of 97 runners.
Lance Greicar wasn’t far behind in 19th in 18:11.56.
Keegan Vaculik was 33rd in 18:49.09. Sam Thompson was 44th in 19:19.41, and Maddox Durst was 50th in 19:30.8.
The girls didn’t have enough runners for a full varsity team.
Evelyn Schmit was 20th in 21:33.11. Ava McLaughlin was 29th in 21:58.47, and Maddy Wille was 46th in 22:46.01.
Shorewood won the eight-team meet with 31 points. New Berlin Eisenower had 81, followed by Oak Creek’s 93, Cedarburg’s 97 and Franklin’s 103.
The Hawks run Saturday in the Matt Hadler Invite at Menomonee Falls.
