Joyce M. Ackeret

Mrs. Joyce Ackeret of Grafton, formerly of Saukville, passed away at Horizon’s Lawlis Hospice in Mequon on Saturday, June 12, 2021. She was 94 years old.

Joyce was born in Medford, Wis., to Jerome and Alice Kostner on March 4, 1927.

She was united in marriage with Stanley Ackeret on Aug. 21, 1948, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Milwaukee. The couple settled in Cedarburg and raised their family. They moved to Lake Arrowhead to enjoy their golden years and later moved to Saukville in 2008.

Her greatest joy was her family and she welcomed everyone into their home. She enjoyed entertaining, hosting family gatherings, card clubs and sitting around the campfire. When not busy with family, friends and numerous clubs, she found joy in quilting, sewing, gardening and crafts. Joyce was a devout member of St. Peter of Alcantara in Port Washington.

Joyce is survived by her children William (the late Barbara) Ackeret of Saukville, Sharon (Stanley) Richards of Hayward, Barbara Cartwright of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Nancy (Steven) Crook of Grafton. She is further survived by eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley, her son Michael and siblings Donald, Raymond and Joan.

A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 18, 2021, at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Peter of Alcantara Church, Port Washington. Father Dennis Ackeret will preside.

The family will receive visitors at the church on Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Mrs. Ackeret will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery, Cedarburg.

Memorials are suggested to Horizon’s Lawlis Hospice in Mequon.
