Joyce L. Wood

Joyce L. Wood passed away on Oct. 16, 2020. She was 70 years old.  

Joyce was born in Port Washington, Wis., on April 5, 1950, the daughter of Alvin and Barbara (nee Jacoby) Schommer.  

Joyce was a selfless woman, always putting others before herself. She was thoughtful and compassionate to those around her and loved being a mom and grandma.

Bird watching and spending time in the dirt while working in the flower or vegetable gardens was where Joyce could be found if she were not on the pontoon boat, fishing with her husband Ernie.     

Joyce is survived by her husband Ernie Wood; sons Christian (Mari) and Eric (Janelle) Wood; grandchildren Justus, Holden, Edward, Abbie, Charles, Andersen and Joseph; and siblings Janice (special friend Jim LaHaie) Kowalczyk, Richard (Pamela) Schommer, Marlene (Jay) Bretschneider, Donna (Michael) Kultgen and Lori (Bill) Schmit.

Joyce is further survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.  

A memorial service will be held at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, WI 53074, on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020 at 6:30 p.m.

Joyce’s family will receive visitors from 5 p.m. until the service at 6:30 p.m.

Joyce’s family wishes to thank the staff at Patriot Place and Heartland Hospice for the care and compassion they provided Joyce during her final days.
