Joseph Edward Barnes

Joseph Edward Barnes, age 65, passed away at his home on Friday, Nov. 3 2023.

Joe was born on Oct. 10, 1958, in Sheboygan to Robert and Darlene (Tackes) Barnes.

He served our country in the U.S. Army from 1976 to 1978.

Joe met the love of his life, Debra Koss, and they were married on July 6, 1996, in Cedar Grove.

Throughout his life he lived in Wisconsin, Colorado and Hawaii. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Joe liked to sit in the garage watching TV with his kids, dog and Bella.

He also enjoyed hunting, bonfires, tinkering, gardening, carpentry and watching “Judge Judy” and “Law and Order.”

Joe worked at Martels for 21 years as a concrete finisher.

Joe is survived by his mother Darlene Barnes; brother Ronald Barnes; sisters Sandy (Kurt) Ader, Laura (Todd) Koepsell and Chrissy (Shannon) Perl; children Brad Dorschner (fiancee Heather Turrubiates),  Sheri Young and Julie Merryfield; daughter-in-law Amber (Craig Berkholtz) Dorschner; grandchildren Sabrina, Lucian, Jacob, Devin, Natasha, Austin and Alexis; and nieces and nephews Haileigh, Alex and Kristofer Ader, Ben, Adam and Brooke Koepsell and Cassidy and Remington Perl.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife Debra, his father Robert Barnes, paternal grandparents Joseph and Ilma Barnes and maternal grandparents Edward and Leona Tackes.

A funeral service for Joe will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London, with the Rev. Kevin Dembinski officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the service. Full military honors will follow the service.
