Jimmy B’s Fredonia Automotive will likely be moving from its location at W3980 Hwy. H to 241 Fredonia Dr., the former location of Fredonia Auto Sales.

Jimmy B’s owner James Brooks purchased the Fredonia Drive property from former owner Anthony Modra on May 17 with plans to move operations there.

The Village of Fredonia Plan Commission reviewed Brooks’ application for a conditional-use permit on June 7.

Brooks is also the owner and operator of Jimmy B’s Auto Repair in Port Washington.

Because he rents buildings for both his Port Washington and Fredonia businesses, Brooks said this is the first conditional-use application he has needed.

Brooks said operations at the new location will be identical to his current businesses. He said the shop will conduct basic auto and truck repairs and not sell vehicles.

When commission members asked if he will store vehicles on the property,  Brooks said he will only keep snowplow and loaner vehicles there — all of which function and are well maintained.

“There will be quite a few vehicles, but they will all be running, drivable, functional — not just a bunch of junk sitting on blocks making it look bad,” he said.

Commission members had no objections to Brooks’ application and noted he had a good reputation as a local business owner.

The commission unanimously voted to schedule a public hearing on the permit for its next meeting in July.
