Janice Dietrich

 

Janice H. Dietrich, 80, of Grafton, died Saturday, Oct. 20, at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon.

Mrs. Dietrich was born in Mequon on Oct. 1, 1938, to Walter and Marie Plier Henke.

On Feb. 11, 1956, she married Edwin Dietrich Jr. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Thiensville.

The couple enjoyed traveling, especially to Branson and Disney World, which was Mrs. Dietrich’s favorite destination. They also were members of the Cedarburg/Grafton Camping Cousins for many years.

“They would go camping with a big group of about 30 families in the 1970s,” her daughter Tammy said.

Mr. Dietrich preceded his wife in death in 2016.

Mrs. Dietrich was a daycare provider at her Grafton home for more than 40 years and was known as “granny” by all. She had a gift for giving and loved baking for church functions and preparing lasagna for the St. Ben’s meal program, her family said.

Mrs. Dietrich in survived by her children Tammy (Todd) Shaver of Adell, Jo Ann (Ken) Zirtzlaff of Door County andDebra (Sam) Fluhr of Grafton; grandchildren Jenifer (special friend Rob Bedelis) Dietrich, Travis (Deanna) Shaver, Dylan (Kelly) Shaver and Mariah Shaver; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She is further survived by brothers Ronald (Pat) Henke of West Bend and Roger Henke of Colgate; and sisters Marilyn (Jim) Bria and Kathy (Jim) Gardipee, both of West Bend.  

Mrs. Dietrich was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edwin and sister-in-law Marlene Henke.

A Mass of Christian burial was to be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grafton. Interment was to take place at the church cemetery.  

Visitation was to be at the church on Thursday from 2:30 to 4:45 p.m.  

Memorials to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are suggested.

Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton is handling the arrangements.
