James keeps two-wheel lead

Port Washington High School mountain biker Emma Kasza-James won the race at Lowes Creek in Eau Claire on Sunday.

Kasza-James finished the course in one hour 12 minutes, 57.74 seconds. She leads the season series by 10 points over Mirta Pusec of Eau Claire Memorial and by 13 points over Anja Louise Lanser of West Bend East.

Kaden Kopp took 15th in his first varsity race of the season and is 37th in the series.

Harrison Ebbers was 23rd in the freshman boys’ race, and Griffin Sheriff was 29th. Sheriff is 24th in Division 2 freshman boys.

Port finished 11th overall of 39 teams.

Leena Suddendorf was 13th in the eighth-grade girls’ race, and Vera Harris was 16th.

For Grafton, Caleb Butler was 11th in the seventh-grade boys’ race.

Ozaukee County Composite team member Samantha Madden was 23rd in the seventh-grade girls’ race.

The next race is Oct. 2 at Nordic Mountain.
