James H. Uselding Sr.

James H. Uselding Sr., 81, of Cedarburg, Wis., passed peacefully from complications of heart disease. The Lord called him to his heavenly home on Feb. 1, 2020.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Sally (nee Jandl) of 61 years. He was the dedicated father of Debra (Gilbert) McDaniel, Donna (Roger) Erickson, James H. Uselding II and Sarah Weinrich and the dear brother of Joyce (Richard) Zimdars and Thomas (Dawn) Uselding.

He is further survived by 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Jim was preceded in death by one grandchild, one great-grandchild and his older brother.

Jim served his country in the Marine Corps. After returning home, he worked in construction, followed by ironworking. He started REI, his own steel erecting business.

Having the entrepreneurial spirit, Jim joined his son-in-law in creating Family Tree Residential Facilities Inc. group homes for the elderly, where he helped serve hundreds of residents for the past 34 years.

In his spare time, he found great joy in selling Christmas trees at Uselding’s Christmas tree lot, delivering topsoil and snowplowing.

Jim was an Ozaukee County supervisor for 22 years. He received the Presidents Award for sponsoring a senior softball team for 27 years.

Jim enjoyed quality time with family, fishing trips to Canada, camping and attending family sporting events to name a few.

Other hobbies included riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, reading up on history and attending his weekly Bible study.

Jim’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Goniu and Family Tree’s dedicated staff for the wonderful care he received during his final days residing at the Harrison Home.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020, at 6 p.m. at Alliance Bible Church, 13939 N. Cedarburg Rd., Mequon.

Family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 3 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
