Incumbents cruise in uncontested races
Two incumbents won seats on the Belgium Village Board in Tuesday’s election, but a third remains to be announced.
The village hadn’t counted the 34 write-in votes in the race that had two people running for three seats.
The person with the most write-in votes will be offered the position on the board. If turned down, the board will determine how to fill the vacancy.
Sarah Heisler received 307 votes (48.27%) and Chris Plier got 295 votes (46.38%) to earn board seats, according to unofficial results.
Turnout was 32.43% with 491 of 1,514 voters casting ballots.
Trustee terms are for two years.
