Honoring those who make a difference

More than 100 people gathered at the Ozaukee Nonprofit Center in Grafton on June 15 to honor this year’s winners of the Ozaukee Impact Awards, which recognize people who have made a difference in their community. This year’s awards went to Family Promise of Ozaukee County as Nonprofit of the Year, Kirsten Coenen as Volunteer of the Year, Kohler Credit Union as Community Stewardship of the Year and the Back 2 School Fair as the Community Collaboration of the Year. Among those receiving the awards were (from left) Barb Janssen and Kennedy Kingston of Family Promise, Mark Gierach and Joana Hemschemeyer of the Ozaukee Food Alliance, which helps organize the Back 2 School Fair,Cori Guerin of Family Promise, Kirsten Coenen, who in addition to receiving her award also represented Kohler Credit Union, and Family Promise CEO Brett Larson.         Photo by Sam Arendt
